Where can you try more than 20 of North Carolina's best brews all on cask? That would be Crank Arm Brewing Company for its 2nd Annual Cask on Fools. This is no joke! Here’s you chance to try some incredible beers all hosted by the Crank Arm gang.

Here’s just a small sample of what will be pouring starting at 3 p.m. on April 1: Crank Arm’s All Mountain-mint chocolate milk stout with Oak City roasters coffee; Trophy Brewing Co.'s Milk Way Salted Caramel Stout on cranberries; Foothills Brewing Seeing Double IPA with blood oranges, tangerines, mandarin oranges and cherimoya fruits; Fonta Flora’ s La Loblolly Red Saison with pine needles and cherry wood.

The list goes on and on.

And don’t forget, a portion of sales will go toward the NC Brewers Guild and the NC Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Ashley Christensen’s Death & Taxes is almost ready to open to the public!

Throughout the month of April, Death & Taxes will be hosting five chefs for a series of special dinners. This group of “firestarter” chefs are ones that Christensen and her gang look up to, learn from and have grown up with. Take a look at this list of amazing chefs:

  • April 8-9: Chef Tandy Wilson of City House(Nashville)
  • April 15-16: Chef Jason Stanhope of FIG(Charleston)
  • April 22-23: Chef Kevin Gillespie of Gunshow(Atlanta)
  • April 29-30: Chef Matthew Kelly of Vin Rouge and Mateo Tapas(Durham)

Tickets are sold by the table in capacities of two and four. Single tickets are available for seating at the kitchen bar only. Tickets to these events can be purchased for either a 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. seating. Tickets vary from $175 to $700 (single ticket to a table of four guests).

On Sunday, April 26, at 5:30 p.m., Cary’s farm-to-table restaurant, Academy Street Bistro, will be hosting a beer dinner with Lonerider Beer.

The event starts with a welcome reception with Kobe beef sliders and spicy shrimp, served with Lonerider’s The Hops You Rode In On IPA. Then, guests will sit down to enjoy a four-course dinner featuring veal bratwurst, roasted quail and rack of lamb all served up with some of Lonerider’s tasty libations.

This beer dinner, brought to life by Academy’s Executive Chef Brian Fitzgerald costs $53 per person, and you can call 919-377-0509 to make reservations.

Be sure to visit Busy Bee in Raleigh as they celebrate six years!

On Monday, April 6, starting at 5 p.m., the Bee will host its Barrel Aged Blowout party. This is one you won’t want to miss. Every tap line in the building will be filled with beer that has touched the inside of a barrel. One of the highlights include Olde Hickory Brewery's tequila barrel-aged imperial stout with molasses. But look for others by Fonta Flora Brewery, Terrapin Beer Co., Founders Brewing Co., Anderson Valley, New Belgium Brewing Co., Mother Earth, Quest and many more.
