Women’s Pac-12 Tournament: Oregon’s Season Comes to An End

The Oregon Ducks had what many would consider a successful season under first year Head Coach Kelly Graves. On Thursday it came to an end with a loss to Washington State in the Pac-12 Tournament. Oregon had a chance in the end for the win, but Lexi Peterson’s shot, a three pointer, left her hand just a second late. The shot would have been good and won Oregon the game.

Jillian Alleyne picked up her twenty-eighth double-double on the year for the Oregon Ducks with eighteen points and eighteen rebounds. Lexi Petersen had twelve and started the second half off with back-to-back three point baskets. In the end, the Cougars were too much in the 66-64 loss.

It has been that kind of season though for the Oregon Women’s Basketball team, with close calls earlier this month against Utah. The Ducks also had lopsided losses, by twenty or more points where they could not get going on either side of the floor. There will be no post season tournament for the team that finished 13-17.  Expect some records to fall as the expectations for the team will be higher next season.

On Thursday, Junior Jillian Alleyne became just the fourth player in NCAA History to post back-to back- 450 rebound seasons. She is also now within eighteen rebounds of breaking the Oregon Record set by Bev Smith.
