LSU still No. 2 in gymnastics rankings

BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team stayed put at No. 2 with a 197.485 regional qualifying score in the latest GymInfo national rankings released Monday.

LSU (10-1, 7-0 Southeastern Conference) wrapped up a perfect regular season against the SEC with a 197.350-197.225 victory at Alabama last week to remain No. 2 behind Oklahoma.

The Tigers are preparing for a sixth-straight meet against a Top 25 team when LSU takes on 16th-ranked Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Maravich Center. It will be senior night as the Tigers honor Rheagan Courville, Lloimincia Hall, Jessie Jordan, Britney Ranzy and Scarlett Williams.

The first 2,000 fans in attendance at the meet will receive a free set of LSU gymnastics trading cards. Doors to the Maravich Center will open at 6 p.m. Friday.

In the team event rankings, LSU climbed one spot to No. 2 on beam, but the Tigers remained No. 2 on floor, No. 4 on bars and No. 6 on vault.

Three Tigers are ranked in the all-around Top 25 — Jordan is No. 3, Courville is No. 4 and Ashleigh Gnat is No. 16.

Jordan ranks second nationally on beam with a 9.915 RQS, 14th on floor at 9.90 and 23rd on bars at 9.870.

Courville is No. 3 on bars at 9.935 and No. 6 on vault at 9.920.

Hall ranks first nationally on floor with a 9.940 RQS, while Gnat is seventh on floor at 9.920 and Jessica Savona is 24th at 9.880.

LSU will close out the home schedule against Minnesota on Friday before wrapping up regular season competition at Centenary on March 13.
