The Oregon Ducks needed a big night from someone. They needed to get out of the road slump they have been in for the better part of the last month. On Friday night Dana Altman found a way for his team to pick up a rare road win in the Pac-12 this season. It is a storyline that will continue for Oregon over the coming weeks as we head toward the conclusion of the season.

Oregon will have more road games than home games and becoming road warriors may just give them enough to make it into the NCAA Tournament. Shooting wise it was another rough night for Senior Joseph Young. He was three for eleven on the night but battled and found a way to pick up thirteen points, every one important in the 68-67 overtime win over the Sun Devils. The Ducks are now 5-4 in Pac-12 play and will get the opportunity to avenge two road losses this upcoming week against Washington and Washington State at home.

Elgin Cook led the Ducks in scoring with twenty-two points and six rebounds following not only their worst loss of the season, but Dana Altman’s worst loss as Head Coach since he became Head Coach. Young was held scoreless in the first half and Arizona State had their chances in the game thanks to close to fifty percent of their free throws, but Oregon prevailed in the end.

Oregon now heads home to face Washington on Wednesday night. Since the Super Bowl is in the greater Phoenix area this weekend the game against Arizona State was Friday night giving Oregon a five-day jump on preparing for the coming week and likely an extra day of rest.

Oregon and Washington tipoff on Wednesday night, February 4th at 6pm Pacific Time. The game is on ESPN2.
