Chelsea are believed to have made contact with Sergio Ramos over a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, despite mounting interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal.

Ramos has a contract with Real Madrid until 2017, but the club’s attempts to tie him down to a more long-term deal have collapsed, after he rejected their initial offer.

The defender’s reluctance to put pen to paper again at the Bernabeu unless he receives a major offer has alerted potential suitors to his availability, with the Premier League trio all thought to be leading the chase.

Jose Mourinho worked with the 28-year-old during his time in the Spanish capital and believes he can add steel to Chelsea’s defence, especially with captain John Terry nearing the end of his playing days.

Despite the reported interest from both Man United and Arsenal, the Blues are thought to have been the first club to make contact with the Spaniard’s agent according to the Express, but it remains unclear whether Ramos would be keen on a move to England.
