A busy and productive week for Oregon State guard Jamie Weisner helped put the Beavers alone in first place in the Pac-12, and further solidified them in the top 10 of the national rankings. Our espnW national player of the week, Weisner finished a splendid seven-day stretch with a 21-point, five-rebound performance Sunday as No. 9 Oregon State defeated No. 13 Arizona State 68-57. The Beavers' road swing to the Grand Canyon State also included a 73-55 victory Friday in which Weisner had seven points and six rebounds. Her week began last Monday at home with a showdown against fellow perimeter standout Kelsey Plum of Washington, and Weisner and the Beavers got the best of that one. Weisner had 26 points and eight rebounds in a 75-67 victory over the Huskies. Add it all up, and you've got an Oregon State squad that is atop the Pac-12 at 8-0, while being 18-1 overall. The Beavers' lone loss thus far was at Tennessee in December. Weisner, a 5-foot-10 junior, was coach Scott Rueck's first true high-profile recruit to Corvallis, Oregon. She is from Clarkston, Washington, where in high school she was all-around sports superstar. Weisner excelled not just at hoops, but at volleyball and track and field as well. Weisner was a standout in javelin, hurdles and high jump during track season, and that multifaceted athleticism shows on the basketball court. Her first season at Oregon State, she was named to the Pac-12 all-freshman team and averaged 12.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. Last season, she was honorable mention all-Pac-12 with very similar averages: 12.5 PPG and 5.3 RPG This season, Weisner is scoring 13.1 points per game and pulling down 6.5 rebounds. She and teammate Sydney Wiese are shooting a combined 44.3 percent from 3-point range (98 of 221). Weisner has dual citizenship that allows her to play basketball for the Canadian national team, which she has done the past two summers. She played in the under-19 world championships in 2013, and then moved up to Canada's senior squad in 2014.
