Mariota Injured Throwing Shoulder In National Championship

We all know by now that the Oregon Ducks do not discuss injuries. Former Oregon Ducks Quarterback Marcus Mariota sustained an injury in the National Championship loss to Ohio State a few weeks ago. He did not participate in the Senior Bowl yesterday, but that may not have been the reason why.

Mariota was invited to the NFL Combine next month and talked with reporters yesterday to accept an award for the Polynesian Football Player of the year, according to Fox Sports, “”Right now we’re still making that decision, whether to throw at the Combine” he said. “…I sprained the AC joint. But now, I’m able to throw. Feels good.”

Between now and May there will be plenty of talk of where the talented QB may land.  One team, the Philadelphia Eagles have been rumored for weeks as a team that could move up to get him. Of course his former coach, Chip Kelly is at the helm in Philly so that would make perfect sense.

The former Oregon Duck is expected to be one of the top picks in the NFL Draft in May and decided to forgo his Senior season with Oregon earlier this month. The NFL Combine is scheduled for February 17th-23rd. Mariota was 13-2 as a Starting Quarterback this season accounting for over forty-five hundred yards of offense and forty-two touchdowns in 2014.
