The Oregon Ducks fought for the lead throughout the game against Santa Clara on Thursday night. It was not until there was under seven minutes left in the game that the fight started to turn in their favor. Head Coach Kelly Graves found his team down sixteen points. The focus on Defense from the beginning of the season has been talked about and last night Oregon came through with a half court Defense that got them back into the game.

Oregon scored thirteen straight to tie the game and force Overtime. It would take heroics from Amanda Delgado to get it to a second overtime. Free throw shooting came at a premium and Lexi Petersen hit five of six to seal the win for the Oregon Ducks. It was also another history making game for Jillian Alleyene.

"“It’s hard to say what exactly clicked,” Petersen said. “But on our team we have a lot of toughness. Going through what a lot of us have been through at Oregon, we want to win games. We know we have that opportunity with (head coach) Kelly Graves. For whatever reason we come out slow, but when it comes down to it we dig down and figure it out.”Jillian Alleyne following the win over Santa Clara"

Alleyne reached one-thousand rebounds for her career at Oregon in the win. She also has eighteen straight double-doubles going back to last season. The Ducks are now 6-3 on the season. Oregon faces Fresno State on Sunday at 2pm Pacific Time.
