will.i.am is such a Taylor Swift superfan he wouldn't think twice about asking her for a selfie.

The Black Eyed Peas star is a hip-hop artist, but has no problem praising county-turned-pop artist Taylor. He is hugely impressed with her latest record 1989 and is furious that others aren't taking her talent seriously - as he told an up-and-coming artist he's working with.

"He's like, 'But what do you really like right now, what got you studying, what has you excited?' I'm excited about tech but as far as music, what has me paying attention to their movement and how they're going about business and being creative and attention to detail in their videos, is Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift is, to me, you would never have thought she has banging beats. Her beats are banging. Maybe Shake It Off you didn't take it serious, but if it was anyone else than Taylor Swift you would have appreciated Shake It Off more. I thought Shake It Off was dope and her new joint [Blank Space] is even doper," he gushed during an appearance on US radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

"If I saw her walking down the street or we were backstage somewhere I'd be like, 'Can I take a selfie? Can you sign my shirt?' I'd be like, 'Yo, can we collaborate.'"

will also spoke about his plans for Black Eyed Peas. The group hasn't released a record since 2010's The Beginning, but there is new material in the pipeline. Anyone waiting for a whole album will be disappointed though, because will is planning something very different.

"It's not gonna be a traditional album. What the F is an album? I don't know when the last time is I listened to an album. I listen to songs but I don't really listen to albums. So that being said, why in the hell are we gonna make an album? I think it's a waste of time," he explained.

The star is a producer as well as being in his band and continues to work with many big names. Although that's enjoyable, he doesn't understand why any of them continue to make albums. The concept bores him and he believes there is something much more exciting they could be doing.

"We're gonna make music, we're gonna finish the thoughts, we're gonna give you treats as far as whether it's a video, a doc, a short, a sketch, a meme. We're gonna give you stuff but we're not gonna give you no album," he said.

"People have the option to make their own stuff... why are you gonna force an old format down somebody's throat on a new platform. I wanna be the first one to be like, 'F an album.'
