LAKE STEVENS — Gavin Patrick scored a game-high 27 points, including five in the overtime period, to give Kamiak a 75-72 overtime victory over Lake Stevens in a Wesco 4A contest on Tuesday night.
“(Patrick) played really well,” Lake Stevens head coach Mark Hein said. “He went to the glass well, he hit some mid-range shots, he played extremely well.”
Lake Stevens held the lead on the final possession of the fourth quarter after Dante Lewis sank two free throws to put the Vikings up three, but Chance Lord was fouled on a 3-pointer with one second remaining and the senior guard knocked down all three free throws to give the Knights new hope.
“It shows you he is a good free throw shooter,” Hein said. “Hats off to him. He stepped up and did what he needed to do.”
Patrick poured in 18 points in the first half to help the Knights take a six-point lead into the break.
Freshman Carson Tuttle added 12 points for Kamiak.
The Vikings featured a balanced scoring attack that saw four players score in double digits. Jacob Eason scored a team-high 18 points, Lewis scored 17, Trey Pavitt scored 12 and Neil Blaine added 11 for Lake Stevens.
“It’s something we are working on,” Hein said of the offense. “We settled in and shared the ball better in the second half.”
