Apple's iTunes to air Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer on Friday

Following rumors that an anticipated trailer for Disney's upcoming Star Wars movie would be available for viewing online, the official Star Wars Twitter account confirmed availability through Apple's iTunes for Black Friday.

As announced in a tweet on Wednesday, the first "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" teaser trailer will be published to Apple's iTunes on Black Friday for public viewing. Apple corroborated in a tweet of its own shorty after Star Wars' announcement.

Previously, Lucasfilm said only 30 theaters nationwide would carry the 88-second tease this Friday. It is unclear if the move was spurred by fans disappointed by the limited release, or was part of Disney's plan to drum up interest.

Come Friday, the "Episode VII" trailer will assumedly be ready to watch on the iTunes Movie Trailers app as well as the iTunes desktop app and Apple's iTunes trailers website.

Disney's upcoming installment to the Star Wars franchise, directed by J.J. Abrams, has completed filming and is slated for release over a year from now on Dec. 18, 2015.

What a stupid title. Oh, well. The universe makes for endless stories. It just depends on the author thereof.

I know it's easy to say "couldn't be worse than Christiansen/Portman dialogue", but... I was pleasantly surprised by the Jurassic World trailer this week, so I think I'm going to be disappointed/horrified by this trailer.

Huh, I hadn’t considered. I just figured the Star Treks were following a larger overall “DARKER; GRITTIER” campaign of reboots.

Were you? I was disappointed. The CGI looks a decade old. They could have at least built a MINIATURE of the iconic doors and shot it. And they’re still doing that stupid hybrid storyline, but at least it’s not human/dinosaur hybrids like they wanted...

The only thing I enjoyed was the trained raptors. I geeked out over Arthur C. Clarke’s use of them in 3001 (which was a depressing sequel in many ways in its own right), so seeing them here in a justified sense (...dum da doo, hybrid DNA to make them docile, derpa derp...) was great.
