Prep football: Peninsula 42, Oak Harbor 14

GIG HARBOR — The Oak Harbor football team fell into a 28-0 hole in the first half and was unable to dig itself out Friday night, losing to Peninsula 42-14 in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament.

Sophomore running back Princeton Lollar scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter to put the Wildcats on the board, and junior wide receiver Dyllan Harris scored on a 13-yard pass from senior quarterback Clay Doughty in the fourth quarter for the Wildcats’ two scores on the night.

Peninsula running back Major Ali scored three of the first four touchdowns of the game to lead the Seahawks, who improved to 10-1 on the season and face top-ranked Bellevue in the second round next week.

Kyle Olson-Urbon scored on a 77-yard fake punt to put the Seahawks up 14-0 in the first quarter.

The Wildcats were making their first appearance in the state tournament in seven years and finished with a record of 7-2.

Lollar finished the season with 15 rushing touchdown and Doughty ended with 11 touchdown passes.
