Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. plans to meet with his attorney, Howard Weitzman, this coming Friday to discuss the future of his career. Weitzman once represented the interests of the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard and Magic Johnson.

Chavez Jr. said the door is not closed to anyone, especially WBA/IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch of Nottingham. There was talk of a fight in January between Chavez and Froch, but the Mexican boxer has yet to solve his contract dispute with Top Rank.

"This Friday I have scheduled a meeting with my lawyer Howard Weitzman. He'll tell me what's on the table regarding possible opponents and dates. I want to return to the ring and the time is near," Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes.

"As he told me there are good things on the table. The fight with Carl Froch is something that still appeal to many people, to the television. I've never said no, the door is open. I do not know if there are negotiations. He will tell me what there is and we will see, there are many options, there are many names."

"I think the fight with Froch is the closest thing obviously. It's an interesting fight because he's a double world champion, because he wants to come to America and we know that the UK market is very important, but let's see what we'll analyze. My lawyer knows what I want."
