Last year this time was routine. We knew what were were looking at as far as who the top two teams in the country were. It was all based on a mix between computers and humans and the result was the Bowl Championship Series. Now, a new era begins in College Football and leading up to the unveiling of the first ‘Top Four’ list tonight nothing is certain as to who the Playoff Committee will favor or not favor.

More from Oregon Ducks Football

With computers it was statistics, but the human element this year takes on a new meaning. What will be favored more? Big wins? Winning Streaks? Strength of Schedule? Of course, the Oregon Ducks find themselves in an interesting dilemma having beaten Michigan State at Autzen Stadium earlier this season, but losing to Arizona, a Pac-12 foe. The Spartans lone loss was to the Oregon Ducks and the team has not lost a Conference game in the Big Ten. In polls this season Michigan State has been ranked ahead of Oregon. How will that shakeout in the end?

A small part of that answer will happen tonight at 4:30 Pacific Time(ESPN) with the outcome of the first College Football Playoff numbers being announced. Of course, Oregon  fans, as well as others in the country should take this first release with a grain of salt and not put much weight on it. The Committee will release numbers every week from this point leading up to the final ‘Final Four’ of College Football and who will play for a National Championship on December 7th at 9:45am PT(ESPN)

The first set of results will also be available tonight on our Twitter feed with reaction to follow.
