Updates from Levi’s Stadium – via KPNWSports

Preview:

It’s Friday night football for the Oregon Ducks and the California Golden Bears and also the first college football game played at the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi’s Stadium. Oregon enters the game winning the last two against Washington last weekend and UCLA on the road the previous week.

The two wins helped to get the Oregon Ducks back on track in the first year of the College Football Playoff after losing earlier this month at home to Arizona. Oregon enters the game tonight back in the top ten(7th in the Associated Press poll this week). Cal, on the other hand has had some growing pains, but are better than last year. In his first season Coach Sonny Dykes went 1-11, this year the team is 4-3(2-3 Pac-12) and have lost two in a row – last weekend at home against UCLA 36-34 and Washington beat the Golden Bears 31-7 on October 11th.

The California Offense is ranked third in the country in passing offense entering the game and is good enough for second in the Pac-12 this season. The Golden Bears average three-hundred seventy two yards through the air this season on average. Quarterback Jared Goff has thrown twenty-four touchdowns to just four interceptions in his second year. On the other hand, with Oregon having a more balanced offense, Marcus Mariota has thrown for nineteen touchdowns and no interceptions. The Ducks are just behind Cal in passing yards averaging three-hundred nine per game.

Over the last two games the Oregon Ducks Offensive Line has looked very different with the return of Offensive Lineman Jake Fisher. Oregon gave up twelve sacks against Arizona and Washington State. Fisher returned for the game at UCLA two weeks ago and also played against Washington. In the two games he has been in the lineup Oregon has given up just two sacks on Quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The Oregon Ducks Offense also got back on track, well, Offensively against Washington working at a quick pace that was slowed in their previous games due to the injuries on the Offensive Line. The big question for the game on Friday night, Will Cal be able to keep up?

Oregon and Cal kickoff at 7:15pm Pacific Time on Fox Sports 1.
