Hill impressed by his Florida Gators official visit

Arkansas receiver commit K.J. Hill (6-0, 190, North Little Rock, AR. High) was one of five official visitors at Florida last weekend when the Florida Gators took on the LSU Tigers.

Hill — who has been talking about visiting Florida for over year now — says the wait was worth it as he walked away saying the Florida visit was a perfect 10 out of 10.

“The visit went very well,” Hill said. “I got to talk to the coaches and players and be around the team a lot all weekend. I got to tour the facilities and the campus and I also got to go to the game. It was a real nice time. It lived up to my expectations.”

It was Hill’s first opportunity to see The Swamp for a game and he says the rumored noise factor of the stadium lived up to the hype.

“I loved the atmosphere, that was the best part of the trip,” Hill said. “Seeing the fans cheering for the team, I loved it. It was real loud in there, maybe the loudest game I’ve ever been too.”

Last Saturday the Florida Gators’ offense didn’t do much but Hill says he’s seen enough to make him believe that he can play early if he chooses the Florida Gators on National Signing Day.

“The offense is a great scheme by what the coaches showed me,” Hill said. “It’s a great opportunity for me to come in and play early because a lot of the receivers are leaving and they need playmakers bad. I noticed that during the game.”

Offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and receiver coach Chris Leak have been recruiting Hill hard and last week they paid him a ton of attention.

“Coach Roper and Coach Leak were around me the whole weekend, they were showing me the offense mostly,” Hill said. “Coach Leak was talking to me about how he coaches the receiver position and what they do during practice a lot.”

At North Little Rock Hill plays pretty much every receiver position and Roper says that he can do that Florida as well. Roper also showed him his offensive scheme last weekend.

“Coach Roper told me that I can play both the inside and outside receiver but it’s up to me,” Hill said. “He said it depends on what I’m comfortable with. I liked what he was showing me though because I feel it’s an offense I can succeed in.”

Before Hill left the Florida campus on Sunday he got the opportunity to meet with Will Muschamp, who stressed to Hill how much he’s needed in Gainsville.

“Coach Muschamp said he was high on me and that he wanted me to be a Gator real bad,” Hill said. “He told me that he wanted me to keep in contact with him and he was telling about the opportunity to get on the field very early and that he needs me as a playmaker.”

A lot of people believe that one visit wouldn’t be enough to flip Hill but he now says a return trip to Gainesville is in the works.

“I was by myself last weekend but I want to get my family down there to see it,” Hill said. “I’m going to try my best to get down there for an unofficial visit sometime. I just have to work it out with my family.”

Hill also says he has heard the rumors about Will Muschamp being on the hot seat and he admits that it’s something he’s watching closely.

“Its something I’m paying attention to closely right now,” Hill said. “That’s the main thing I’m concentrating on with them right now.”

INSIDERS TAKE: The visit couldn’t have went any better for Hill and the Gators so him talking about another trip is great for Florida. That will be something to keep a close eye on going forward. I do think a coaching change at Florida could basically eliminate Florida for Hill.

  1. ….and for Cowart, and for CeCe and for Davis and for Ivey…etc. these knucklehead gator fans better be careful for what they wish for. Wishing for your team to lose just so your coach can get fired is the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard of. I guess we have as many jackasses in our fan base as others. Oh well. Go Gators!

    • Yeah no need to root for losses or someone getting fired. This has the potential to be a very good class with a strong finish.

  2. Great Stuff Andrew, you have to stop getting old Swampie excited like this! HaHa keep it coming. When to see who this kid is on the web. Saw some film on him, a 7on7 thing. Hill is big time, can’t believe one service ranks him 28th WR in the country. Don’t know anything about him other than what I read from you and the tape. He catches the ball so well with his hands and the positioning of his hands look textbook. Once the ball is caught he explodes with athleticism. Not being gay at all this kid looks like a ballet dancer, like a bigger Wes Chandler, he can spin the 180 with the best of them, has a great first step, is lightning quick. Plus he has nice size, he is packed so tightly at first you think he’s thin but then you notice how ripped this young man is. Can see him next year out there with Robinson, WOW. Thanks again Andrew, love this kid hope we get him…
