Oregon Ducks vs Washington State Cougars Twitter Stream, 7:30pm PT, ESPN
Preview:
The Oregon Ducks embark on their first road trip of the 2014 season tonight as they take on the Washington State Cougars. The team from Pullman is led by Connor Halliday who is putting up Playstation like numbers averageing over five hundred yards through the air to go along with twelve touchdowns. Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota and the Oregon Ducks prefer to take a more balanced approach through the air and on the ground. (Washington State is averaging just over forty yards per game on the ground)
The Oregon Ground game has proved solid so far this season. A big reason is from the play of Running Back Royce Freeman who is second on the team in touchdowns with five. Last season it was Running Back Byron Marshall who ran rampant over the Cougars at Autzen for one-hundred ninety two yards and three touchdowns. Add Freeman to the mix and the Oregon Ducks could put the game out of reach by halftime.
On the other hand, and side of the ball, is a Quarterback who can pass in Connor Halliday. He has put twelve touchdowns in the air this season to pretty capable Wideouts in Isiah Myers who has five scores on the season to go along with four-hundred twenty three receiving yards. Junior Dom Williams had his first one-hundred yard game of the season last week in a win over Portland State. On the season he has two touchdowns. One area that Washington State is lacking is the ground game which makes them very one-dimensional and predictable.
If the Oregon Duck can clamp down on defense, specifically against the pass they should be able to get out of Pullman with their eighth win in a row in the series with the Cougars.
