Matt Jarvis happy with competition for places at West Ham United

Matt Jarvis insists that he is happy with the competition for places at West Ham following the club's busy activity in the summer transfer window.

West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis has insisted that he is happy with the competition for places at the club.

The Hammers were busy during the recent transfer window, eventually bringing in 11 new players before Monday night's deadline.

When asked what he made of the club's activity in the market, Jarvis told West Ham's official website: "We've brought in a lot of quality to the squad.

"Nine signings - that's a lot and they've all integrated really well so far and we are all really looking forward to the [rest of the] season.

"[Competition] is always a good thing. When a player comes in to your position it makes you work harder, it makes the team stronger."

Jarvis recently revealed that he is nearing a return to full fitness after missing the start of the season through injury.
