Female runner fights off naked attacker in Battle Creek, police say

Police in Battle Creek say a 30-year-old jogger was attacked by a naked man Wednesday night, Aug. 27, 2014, on a path near Riverside Drive and Golden Avenue.

BATTLE CREEK, MI – A 30-year-old runner was able to fight off a naked man who attacked her Wednesday night in Battle Creek, police said.

Police said the woman was running on a path at about 9:40 p.m. near Riverside Drive and Golden Avenue when a man ran up from behind and pulled her to the ground, according to an alert issued Friday afternoon by the Battle Creek Police Department.

Police said the man grabbed at the woman, prompting her to strike the man several times.

"The suspect stood up, at which point the female observed that he was not clothed," police said in the alert.

Police said the man fled from the scene, running east down the jogging path. Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

Police said the woman described her attacker as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 160 to 170 pounds.

Police are continuing to investigate.
