SI Breaks Down the Season and Oregon Ducks Chance at National Title
On Wednesday Sports Illustrated released their look at the upcoming season including predictions for teams looking to make the National Title, or should I say those that have the best chance and several writers think that this is the year that Marcus Mariota could lead the Oregon Ducks to the promised land, however of the writers for Sports Illustrated discussing the topic the majority chose Florida State as the National Champion, again, as they were last season and again this year led by Quarterback Jameis Winston. Oregon’s Quarterback did win one ‘competition’.

The Oregon Signal Caller seems to be the lead candidate for the Heisman Trophy, picking up a majority of the SI Writing opinion. Several talked about other candidates including Winston and also UCLA Quarterback Brett Hundley. I would expect quite a battle this season in the Pac-12 Conference between Hundley and Mariota and of course the showdown between the two at UCLA later this season. One writer for SI(Ellis) sees Hundley as among the first to fall out of the Heisman Race for 2014. The game at UCLA will have a lot to say about that game and if the two teams are still winning when the Pac-12 Championship game rolls around and they meet in the Championship it could be a ‘great’ revenge opportunity for the regular season matchup loser.
Oregon starts the 2014 season on Saturday hosting South Dakota at 7:30pm on the Pac-12 Networks.
