Letter: Christians must stand up

Louisiana

Christians must stand up

More Christians need to stand up an defend what they believe in.

Statistics in 2012 revealed that 77 to 80 percent of American identified themselves as being Christian. By car count estimates on Sunday morning, only about 24 percent attended services.

I am pretty sure the ones that identified themselves as being Christian were carried to church by their parents. It is our responsibility to carry our children to church if we expect them to identify themselves as being Christian.

It would be very easy for America to become an atheist nation. It is our duty as Christians to stand up and be active in Christian affairs. We need to protest when laws are passed that are against our Christian values. and not just sit idle. When we vote, we need to vote for a person who believes in Jesus Christ.

When this country was founded, not all of our forefathers were Christian, but about 95 percent of the citizens were, so the nation's leaders had to support the citizens.

I don't believe that anyone can disagree with the fact that true Christians make better citizens and a stronger nation. They don't steal, kill, vandalize, get drunk on strong drinks or drugs that cause wrecks and crime. They make better employees by not laying off of work and getting sick. They cost the government less money by not having to support them, such as being in prison or divorced and on welfare.

The greatest reward will come in heaven after death.
