Oregon Ducks Depth Chart Features Three Headed Monster at Running Back
There are more than a few reasons to be excited about the upcoming season that starts on Saturday night for the Oregon Ducks. The first official depth chart has been released and the traditional two deep form which typically features the starter and the backup has three names at the Running Back position, any of which could start. Thomas Tyner, Byron Marshall and Freshman Royce Freeman. Freeman is not the only new face that will see the field at Autzen this season by design. Overall there will be nine players that we will all get the opportunity to cheer for.
One area that became a spot of concern in the Spring was at Wide Receiver, where Fall Camp helped to separate out a Starter. Dwayne Stanford, Keanon Lowe and Devon Allen will likely see the field first with Freshman Wideouts Charles Nelson and Darren Carrington also making appearances throughout the season. Addison, who tore his ACL in Spring camp has said he would like to return sometime during the 2014 season. It remains to be seen if it is a possibility.

Of course the Starting Quarterback should be no surprise in Marcus Mariota. Jeff Lockie is listed as the second string for the first game of the year. I would expect that if the Oregon Ducks have a big lead that Lockie will take over on Offense for Oregon and as in recent years I would expect him to have a solid amount of playing time in the game on Saturday to spell Mariota.
On the defensive side at Cornerback, Ifo Ekpre Olomu is set on a starting spot, alongside Freshman Chris Seisay as the backup. Ont the other side Troy Hill will start along with Dior Mathis. At the Safety spot several new faces will be on the field including Freshman Juwaan Williams and Tyree Robinson. Overall it is a standard depth chart, with the exception of the running back position which could be the key in 2014 for Oregon making a National Championship run.
Oregon and South Dakota kickoff on Saturday night at 7:30pm Pacific time on Pac-12 Networks.
