CyanogenMod 11 Stable Build Featuring Android 4.4.4 Released for Motorola Droid X

Developers at XDA forum have shared CyanogeMod 11 build based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat for the Motorola's older Droid X smartphone, which was released in 2010. The CyanogenMod 11 build, as mentioned, is a stable version of firmware, albeit a few bugs are still available.

Camera Colors are slightly off (slightly blueish)

Hdmi only works with "RealHdmi" app (play store)

Root and install Bootstrap CWM recovery on Droid X

• Download and install Framaroot.apk on the phone. Open the app then root the Droid X.
• Download Droid2RecoveryBootstrap_CWM5.0.2.0.apk and install it. Run the app and select Bootstrap Recovery. Grant Superuser access if you are prompted to do so. Then reboot the phone.

Pre-requisites

• As the tutorial might wipe out all data of the phone, create backup. If the device is having any custom recovery such as ClockworkMod or, TWRP then backup data using the same.
• If the Android phone powers off due to lack of battery during the process, it could damage the device. Therefore, the Droid X should have charge above 80% battery charge.
• The phone should be rooted and have latest version of recovery.
• The CyanogenMod 11 works only with Motorola Droid X. Applying this to any incorrect variant might brick the device.
• After flashing the ROM if the device gets stuck on booting animation or experience boot loop then perform wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache for a few times before rebooting the device.
• Once the ROM is installed, users are advised to give 10 minutes to the ROM after the device boots up for the first time for better user experience.

How to install CyanogenMod 11 with Android 4.4.4 on Motorola Droid X

Step-1: Download CyanogenMod 11 custom firmware for Droid X

Download link: twrp_2.7_cm11_dx.zip [Alternative link]

Step-2: Download the latest version of Google apps and copy it to the phone

Step-3: Launch Droid X Bootstrapper and tap Reboot Recovery option to enter CWM recovery

Step-4: In the recovery mode, select wipe data/factory reset and confirm the action

Step-5: Now select install zip from sdcard and select twrp_2.7_cm11_dx.zip

Step-6: When the installation process is completed, return to the main recovery menu and select Reboot system now

Step-7: Wait for some time until phone boots up successfully, and then go through the setup

Step-8: When the Android logo with a red background appears on the screen, press menu hardware key

Step-9: Select Install option and then select the Google apps zip package

Step-10: Now reboot the phone

The Droid X should now be updated with CyanogenMod 11 featuring Android 4.4.4.
