Fox Sports: Stewart Mandel Sees Oregon Ducks 2014 Season As Lackluster

When it comes to opinion, it is just that….opinion, but when you are one of the bigger voices for College Football it can be taken with a grain of salt. Fox Sports recently released their look at the Pac-12 Conference with both Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel. Neither really decided Oregon had any ‘star’ players or ‘big’ games for the season. According to Mandel, with no ‘star’ power at Wide Receiver the Oregon Ducks may be in trouble this season. He even cites the departure of Chip Kelly as part of the reason for the Ducks falling farther this season compared to last. Mandel has the Oregon Ducks as the ‘Flop Team’ in 2014

Bruce Feldman on the other hand sees the Oregon Ducks as contenders this season and even has them winning the Pac-12 Championship over UCLA at seasons end. With the offensive power that Oregon has the surprise team of the Conference is Washington. The Huskies have a new coach in Chris Petersen which should make for a fun season in Washington. When it comes to predicted finish in the Conference Mandel has the Oregon Ducks third behind Washington and Stanford.

Like I said at the top, it is just an opinion. Some are more critical of teams that have had success in the past, others embrace it. Games are played on the field and the season is set to begin. For the Oregon Ducks it will be another year to watch Quarterback Marcus Mariota and a cast of young talent challenge for a National Title.

Oregon kicks off the 2014 season on Saturday, August 30th hosting South Dakota at 7:30pm Pacific Time on Pac-12 Networks.
