Video: Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier scuffle, fall off stage at UFC 178 media day

LAS VEGAS – In what will go down as arguably the biggest pre-fight scuffle in UFC history, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and upcoming challenger Daniel Cormier got into it in a big way on Monday.

Following an “Ultimate Media Day” at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for UFC 178, Jones and Cormier met on stage in a traditional faceoff. Things got ugly in a hurry.

The two came together, Jones put his forehead to Cormier’s, and Cormier responded by shoving the champion. As UFC public relations head Dave Sholler quickly tried to get in between the two big men, Jones shoved Sholler to the side and went after Cormier, throwing a big left hand, and the two of them went crashing off the stage in the lobby, where they continued to scuffle until separated.

MMAjunkie was on hand and has raw video of the incident above, which took place in front of a free-to-the-public crowd.

Cormier (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) challenges Jones (20-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) on Sept. 27 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in one of the UFC’s most anticipated title fights of the year. Cormier stepped in this past month for Alexander Gustafsson, who had to bow out of a title rematch with Jones thanks to a knee injury.
