Amway Coaches Poll Sets Pace, Oregon Ducks Slated to Start Season at #4

It is no surprise to me that the Florida State Seminoles and Quarterback Jameis Winston have been tabbed the number one team in the country according to the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll entering the first season of the College Football Playoff where the top four teams will settle the debate for a National Champion at the end of the season. The Seminoles picked up fifty six if sixty two first place votes entering the 2014 season. The SEC appears to remain the conference to beat according to the poll. The conference has seven teams in the poll, including Alabama at number two and Auburn at number five. Speaking of the number five, the Pac-12 Conference has five teams ranked in the first Coaches poll of the year.

The Oregon Ducks enter at number four, followed by the UCLA Bruins just behind them in the Top ten at number seven. One key matchup this season at Autzen Stadium will feature Oregon hosting the number eleven Stanford Cardinal. The other Pac-12 teams to make the poll include Washington at twenty five, Arizona State at eighteen and USC at sixteen. The Big Ten was also represented in the Amway Coaches Poll and one team that will be the focus in Eugene in week two will enter Autzen, presumably at number eight making the Spartans and Ducks matchup one of the premiere Top 10 games of the non-conference season.

Oregon Football Fall Practice begins on Monday, August 4th and the 2014 regular season kicks off on Saturday, August 30th when the Oregon Ducks will host South Dakota at Autzen Stadium at 7:30pm Pacific Time. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
