Newcastle had trouble scoring goals last season and we were far too reliant on Loic Remy – who scored 14 Premier League goals for us in only 27 appearances.
Siem de Jong – this player has creativity and goal scoring prowess
And once Yohan Cabaye left us in January, we ended up having very little creativity and had trouble even creating chances never mind actually scoring some goals.
So it’s been great to see players with creativity and goal scoring prowess like Siem de Jong, Remy Cabella and Ayoze Perez brought into the squad – and Emmanuel Riviere is a strong, powerful and rather pacy striker – who could give opposing defenses lots of problems next season.
We hope he does just that.
Alan Pardew seems to think he has a lot more options available to him now, as he had this to say in the Shields Gazette today:
“It’ll be interesting,” . “We’ve got nice options, and we can face the season with a team that we can change.” “The problem with the Premier League is that if you play the same team week in, week out against the top teams, we won’t ever gain an advantage.”
“Particularly late last year, and in the Europa League year, I didn’t have those offensive options.” “Now I’ve Siem, Riviere, Cabella, Moussa Sissoko, Gouffran and also – maybe – Rolando and Armstrong.”
“Fingers crossed they can get to the level where they can affect Premier League games.” “And also Papiss when he’s back fit.”
Alan Pardew and his players flew back into Newcastle today, after a very long flight back from down under in New Zealand – but it was a very satisfying two game winning streak in New Zealand without conceding a goal, and the team played well, and it’s still early in pre-season.
One youngster who has come through very well so far in this pre-season, is 18 year-old winger Rolando Aarons, who has started in every game and looked good out on the wing, and Adam Armstrong – who is still only 17 – has also looked the very promising young player he proved he is last season.
If we can get three new players in before the end of August, and have a couple of the youngsters come through for the team next season – we should do very well.
What do you think?

We seem to have alot of pace and skill in the squad, now we need a good striker and a CB to finish it off.
I cant see us getting any of the reported targets,i think we,ll probably end up with Ferryer from Donetsk,he,s within our price range of thirty bob.

Comment #3Well that is definitely it for Hatem then, not even a mention. Not too down heartened by it though, all the potential in the world just not the ambition / determination in him to unlock it.

Comment #4If HBA leaves, i hope he goes back to France or another country? I could,nt bear to see him playing against us with another club in the Prem!
His full potential has never really been displayed for us? Somewhere else it may well do, and then we will come to regret not sticking with him?
Our new found Creativity and Attacking options have still to be tested against Prem opponents so i woud,nt start getting Cocky about the Team selection, just yet!
