Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has said today that he has worked very well with new Managing Director Lee Charnley in the transfer market so far this summer, and that Lee and him talk every day. Alan has also said Newcastle are all ready to move in the transfer market again.

And while Newcastle have already signed six good players in the transfer market this summer, and news boys Remy Cabella and Daryl Janmaat will be joining the squad Pardew next week, the manager has said Newcastle are ready to move when any opportunity presents itself.
Translation – the right player becomes available at the right price.
This is some of what the Newcastle manager has said today:
“I’ve worked really well with Lee this summer,” “We’ve talked every day, and we’re going to do that until the end of the window.”
“If anything that comes along works for us financially and, more importantly, on the football front, then we’ll move.”
“We’re in good shape,” “We’ve got six players in already. We’ve done our business early.” “That was the key to it.”
“We’ve done very well to have five big hitters in at this time. I’m really pleased.”
Newcastle have done very well this summer, but we still need more firepower up front and we need at least one experienced striker added to the ranks before the end of August.
23 year-old Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is target – but he has just signed a new three-year deal at his French club.
22 year-old World Cup striker Joel Campbell of Arsenal is available, but he’s never even played in the Premier League, so he is hardly a proven goalscorer at the top level.
We have also been linked with midfielder Clement Grenier – and we would like to see an improved bid go in from Newcastle, because we think it’s possible we could get the French International play maker to Tyneside.

Has “big hitters” replaced “purple” then?
No wonder we struggle with transfer so often. We need a simple system and to stick with it. Or is that what we did the past few windows? Nowt simpler than buying no players 🙂
I think the club see us as comfortable and ready for the new season. If something comes along too good to turn down, then we’ll act, but I’m not expecting too much else tbh.

Comment #4Anyone else getting the feeling we’re slowly being primed for no more in? It’s beginning to sound dangerously close to ‘I’m happy with the squad as it is’.
What is the point in strengthening to this level only to then not bother with 2 players we desperately need! Come on Charnley just get it done.

Comment #5“Jackie Milburn advised Bobby Charlton to go to Man U because Newcastle never give their youngsters a chance.”
How horrendous if true. Missing out on Bobby friggin Charlton, because his “uncle” and arguably the clubs most celebrated player told him, in his interests, he’d be better off.
I didn’t know that and up to now happy not to. I knew we have always been a bit lax with the local talent, to put it mildly, but that is hideous.

Comment #6That statement roughly translates to
“We have done all of our business, but we might sell if someone offers us enough money”
What do you guys think?

Comment #9I think Carr,Charnley & most importantly Ashley will decide if we bring anyone else in or not.
Firstly if it is Financially good & secondly if in footballing terms, then Pardew gets the call when the photoshoot is ready.

I’ve been a fan for about 58 years & I’ve never heard that story about Bobby Charlton before so I wouldn’t take too much notice of it.

Comment #11Basically nothing new. pardew speak about how we will buy someone but only for the right price… which is no news at all. In other words we will not pay over the odds even if the club is at dire straits. Which means… “probably we are done with the transfers. but if some schmuck wants to sell on cheap – we are in”.

Comment #12HAHA! Yes Ibizatoon – it would appear that Pards has changed his lingo.
Big hitters has replaced “Purples” of the previous years…
Perhaps Pardew finally twigged that it made a bell end sound like he was talking about signing more bell ends.
