Know the Opponent: AAC, CUSA, MAC and Sun Belt

We are now looking at Football Bowl Subdivision teams from here on out during our Know the Opponent series. The four schools that we’re looking at are Memphis, UTSA, UMASS and Georgia State which will appear on PAC-12 schedules this fall.

With that let’s begin the next chapter in our non-conference series that’ll get us closer to the start of the 2014 season.

Memphis Tigers – 3-9/1-7 AAC, Enter the third year of the Justin Fuente era and return nine offensive starters then eight on defense. They’ll face Austin Peay, Middle Tennesse plus Ole Miss in the non-conference schedule this year. Saturday, September 6 they’re at the Rose Bowl against UCLA which can be seen on PAC-12 Network with kickoff at 7 pm.

UTSA Roadrunners – 7-5/6-2 CUSA, Larry Coker built UTSA from scratch and are finally starting to see the win total rise. They posted a 6-2 mark in conference play a season ago with 10 starters on offense/defense look poised to win the west division. On Thursday, September 4 Arizona comes to the AlamoDome for the biggest home game in school history which can be seen on Fox Sports 1 at 5 pm.

UMASS Minutemen – 1-11/1-7 MAC, Mark Whipple was brought in to help turn around a program with two-wins over the past two seasons. It won’t be east with Boston College plus road trips to Vanderbilt and Penn State this season. They’ll host Colorado September 6 at Gillette Stadium for a noon kickoff on ESPN3 as of right now.

George State Panthers – 0-12/0-7 Sun Belt, Trent Miles went winless in his first season guiding the Panthers. For only being a program since 2010 they’ve experience growing pains such as the tough season in 2013. Saturday, September 20 they’ll make their first appearance at Husky Stadium in Seattle to face Washington with a kickoff time still to be determined.
