Marcus Mariota, Pac-12 QB’s Highlight Davey O’Brien Watch List
Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota was added to another watch list on Wednesday. The Davey O’Brien Award is given to the Natuon’s Best Quarterback. The Oregon QB will have some Pac-12 Conference Competition with UCLA signal caller Brett Hundley also on the list for the upcoming 2014 season. Other Pac-12 names to make the watch list include Washington State Quarterback Connor Halliday and Cal QB Jared Goff. USC Junior Cody Kessler and Stanford QB Matt Hogan round out the Pac-12. Of Course a name that will be following Mariota all season(on several watch lists also appeared on the Davey O’Brien Watch List)

He will be looking to win the award for the second consecutive season. Florida State Quarterback Jameis Winston also took the Heisman Trophy last year. Semifinalists will be announced in November. Mariota was also named to the Maxwell Award Watch List for the Player of the Year. Following an injury in November last season, the Oregon Quarterback looks to get back to his old self. He showed in the Oregon Spring Game that his recovery has gone well. In one shortened quarter he was nine for ten passing for two touchdowns.
Last season Mariota threw for over thirty six hundred yards and accounted for thirty three touchdowns. He also had seven hundred fifteen yards on the ground.
The Oregon Ducks begin Fall Practice on August 4th and kick off the 2014 season hosting South Dakota on Saturday, August 30th with a 7:30pm Pacific Time kickoff on Pac-12 Networks.
