A Professional Car Wash Saves Water, Saves Money and Prevents Pollution

July 15, 2014

A professional car wash saves water, money and protects the environment.

An interesting fact is that most car washes use substantially less water to wash your car than you would use if you were washing it yourself at home. For example, one report says that washing your car at home typically uses between 80 and 140 gallons (304 and 532 L) of water, while a car-wash facility averages less than 45 gallons (171 L) per car.

With the water and sewer rates continuing to rise in Northeast Ohio, it is important to conserve water whenever possible.

In addition, when you wash your car at home,  all of the chemicals and detergents are washed into the storm sewer which can bypass the sewer treatment plants and flow immediately into our rivers and our lakes.   According to the US EPA, polluted storm water can destroy fish, wildlife and threaten public health.  Lake Erie is an amazing asset here in Northeast Ohio and we need to take care of it.

Professional car-wash facility must dispose of the waste in accordance with local regulations. This means that washing your car at a car-wash facility is usually better for the environment.

This summer and all year round, make a commitment to a greener environment.  Put down the buckets and brushes.  Shit off the garden hose.  Save water, save money and save the environment by washing at a professional car wash.
