Three Oregon Ducks on Nagurski Watch List for Defensive Player of the Year
There is at least one category for watch list awards where the Pac-12 Conference reigns supreme over other Conferences across the Country. The Conference leads with eighteen players on the list including several from the University of Oregon. The Nagurski Award honors the Best Defensive Player of the Year. According to the release, twelve teams had at least three players on the list – in the Pac-12 Stanford had four, and Oregon had three.

Defensive End Tony Washington, Linebacker Derrick Malone, and Cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu were the three Oregon Ducks players selected. Several other Pac-12 teams outside of Stanford and Oregon also had players on the list including USC, UCLA, Arizona and Washington. In all eighty one players are on the Watch List for 2014 and each week a ‘Player of the Week’ will be chosen. Of course, players can fall off the list or be added at any time throughout the regular season that begins for some teams on Thursday, August 28th.
The Annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet will be held in December 8th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Oregon Ducks kick off the 2014 season on Saturday, August 30th hosting South Dakota at Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm PT on Pac-12 Networks.
