NEW ORLEANS – The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team saw its Sun Belt Tennis Championship run come to an end on Friday falling to Georgia State 4-0 at the City Park Tennis Center.

"It was a hard fought match against a very good team," head coach Greg Harkins said. "I give them a lot of credit. They are a great team and worthy of the top seed. I am very proud of the girls. They did a great job of representing the team, university and community well. The girls took a big step forward this year, and we are only getting better and better."

The Panthers (10-8) picked up the doubles point after a pair of 8-2 wins on courts one and three.

Georgia State went on to win the first three singles points against Louisiana (7-17) to clinch the match.

Marcia Tere-Apisah won the deciding point defeating Julie Cremers 6-3, 6-1 on court four to close out the match.

"I appreciate all of the work that they put in along with assistant coach Luc Godin," Harkins added. "We have a lot of work to do before the start of the fall season. Hopefully we can get back to work and continue to improve this summer and take the program to the next level."
