Brad Pitt Star David Michôd's 'The Operators'

Plan B and New Regency teamed up on Oscar-winning “12 Years a Slave” and now are developing Afghanistan military expose “The Operators” as a starring vehicle for Plan B’s Brad Pitt.

Australian writer-director David Michôd (“Animal Kingdom”) will follow upcoming “The Rover” (A24 summer trailer below), starring Guy Pearce and Rob Pattinson, with “The Operators” for Plan B, New Regency and RatPac Entertainment, the film finance and production partnership of Brett Ratner (“Hercules”) and Australian hotel billionaire James Packer, chairman of Crown Limited. Pitt will produce along with his Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

Based on the late Michael Hastings’ bestselling expose, “The Operators” chronicles the rise and fall of General Stanley McChrystal, the commanding general of international and U.S. forces in Afghanistan. It’s a shocking behind-the-scenes portrait of U.S. military commanders.

New Regency (Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah,” David Fincher’s “Gone Girl,” González Iñárritu’s “Birdman”) and Plan B (“World War Z”) signed a three-year producing partnership after Plan B’s Paramount deal expired at the end of 2013; New Regency and RatPac Entertainment are co-financing films for Plan B.

Next up for Pitt is another World War II picture, David Ayer’s “Fury,” for Sony release November 14.
