All would be good in the world of Oregon Baseball if the entire season revolved around Portland. The Ducks were able to get off to a very hot start in Game 1 of a two game midweek home-away set with the Pilots. Mitchell Tolman led the Oregon Ducks in a nine run first inning on Tuesday. Fourteen batters went to the plate with eight hits and two walks. By the third inning George Horton’t team built a 12-0 lead and the Head Coach was looking to reserves to get some playing time in front of the home crowd at PK Park. Oregon won the game 15-10.

Portland managed to score four runs in the third inning, but the Oregon Ducks answered with two runs of their own. Tolman came through with an RBI in the inning, but the Portland Pilots would fight back. Oregon Relief Pitcher Stephen Nagosek picked up the win throwing 3 2/3 innings and allowing just three hits. In Game Two on Wednesday in Portland it was more of the same for Oregon.

Oregon took the lead in the fourth inning in Portland from two doubles by Tyler Baumgartner and Mitchell Tolman. The Oregon Ducks also had a stellar pitching performance from a pitcher we may see more of, Brando Tessar. The Senior allowed four hits in seven innings of work and had a career high eight strikeouts. The Ducks came away with the victory in Portland 3-0. With Freshman Matt Krook’s status uncertain after leaving the game last weekend with arm stiffness, Oregon will likely be looking for someone to fill in the Saturday starting spot.

This weekend Oregon faces UC Riverside in a three game series, Friday(6pm PT), Saturday(2pm PT), and Sunday(12pm, PT). All three games will be available online via the Pac-12 Live Stream.
