Charlotte Koh, head of development for Hulu‘s original series and responsible for series including “Deadbeat” and Seth Meyers’ “The Awesomes,” is leaving the company after three years.
“We thank Charlotte for her amazing contributions over the past three years, building our Hulu originals business, and we wish her continued success in the future,” a Hulu rep said, declining to comment further.
Koh’s exit comes after Hulu last month hired Craig Erwich, previously with Warner Horizon Television, as senior VP and head of content, reporting to CEO Mike Hopkins. Erwich is in charge of Hulu’s overall content development, including original firstrun programming, primetime programming from broadcast and cable networks, and library TV series from the U.S. and internationally.
Koh had led the deal for “Deadbeat,” a supernatural comedy set in New York City that was a co-production with Lionsgate; coincidentally, “Deadbeat” premiered on Hulu today. Other originals she brought to Hulu include “Quick Draw,” created by Nancy Hower and John Lehr (“10 Items or Less”), and “Behind the Mask,” created by Josh Greenbaum (“The Short Game”). She also was exec producer for Hulu on “The Wrong Mans,” a co-production with the BBC.
Before joining Hulu in January 2011, Koh was senior VP of business development for Marvel Studios and was an executive at Fox Searchlight.
