Nice Theta review - unususal source

I was VERY surprised a light review could came on that website, which I really like (more of a computer industry trends, new and rumours than a usual photo reviewing website).

Good for Ricoh

I think it kind of makes a little bit of business sense to bring something like this that is more of a concept product all the way to market. They are able to test out a lot of things - heavy lifting with software, connectivity, etc. with low consequences of failure because surely expectations were not set super high.

Well done article, very interesting. That site with peoples' uploads shows that the device can be put to some cool uses.

<low humor>

This thread is far too positive to be in the News and Rumors section.
So in order to create the appropriate level of doom and gloom,
I will point out that the ILC in the back of the review image
is not made by Ricoh-Pentax.

Well I think it is a different point of view than the one we're used to.
This is just not a photography (as most of use mean it) it but more of a business and fun product, indeed.

Looks great, I had it in my hands briefly when I met with some reps from Ricoh Europe.

Sure about that? It looks like a Q to me...

Got mine out to compare.

That's a Black/Black Q7 with 02 Standard zoom lens mounted. There's a bit of green tint to the light reflected on the top edge of the body around the mode dial.

Correct and the lessons learned (wifi, tethering, on board photsynth, mobile app development, etc) can potentially be ported to other products especially given that Ricoh's camera department doesn't also have a cell phone division with lots of expertise on those kind of things.

Ah, sweet!
I only have the original Q, so I didn't recognize the thicker grip.

Thx for clarification, Adam. I certainly wasn't quite sure.
In this specific case, where should I have put it ?
Non-Pentax Cameras? But is this even a camera?

This section would work, as would general talk. But it's more of a photographic gadget so I think this one is the best fit.
