People all over the world will find the new 360° look interesting and they see you can do it by yourself with that tinny little Ricoh Cam.
I think it doesnt matter, that the THETA isnt perfect. It is a great Marketing Instrument for Ricoh without big investment.
This is also on the web. (12 handheld shots with Pentax k-5 and the DA 10-17 fisheye.) There is a clearly noticable difference in resolution between the Theta shots and this one. Even though both are on the Internet. So I agree with Katmandude, Ricoh could have done much better with the hardware they already have in house.
