Bengals vs. Dolphins: Sanzenbacher to see more snaps if Sanu sits

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Mohamed Sanu sat during Tuesday's practice, the second time this week, dealing with a shoulder that forced him to miss the second half against the New York Jets. Per Bengals.com, if Sanu is unable to go, Marvin Jones will be promoted to the second wide receiver in two-wide sets with Dane Sanzenbacher seeing increased participation in the slot.

Head coach Marvin Lewis said after practice that if Sanu can't go, wide receiver Marvin Jones would replace him in the two-receiver sets with Dane Sanzenbacher taking some of Sanu's reps in the slot.

Traditionally the Bengals have used A.J. Green and Sanu as the team's wide receivers in two-wide sets; over 40 percent of the team's formations are single-back with two receivers and two tight ends this year. When they move to a three-wide set, Jones often replaces Sanu, who moves into the slot -- but all three are pretty interchangeable in the slot, in terms of participation.

Sanzenbacher has caught a pass in three straight games and four of the past five, giving him five for 54 yards receiving on the season.

Andrew Hawkins has a shot at being activated prior to the game after spending the first eight weeks on Injured Reserve with a designation to return. However, Hawkins figures to eases back into the offense for a week or two after being activated.
