PAC-12 Football Weekend Recap (Week 7)

Oregon remains unbeaten after beating Washington in Seattle but the real story is that Stanford went to Salt Lake City and lost to Utah. Oregon State moved to 3-0 in league play after winning in the Pulluz, USC got back to their winning ways. UCLA also remains perfect before heading on the road this weekend. All but two games were decided by more than one score on Saturday. Here’s what happened around the PAC-12 this weekend in our recap.

Thursday, October 10 –

Arizona Wildcats (3-2, 0-2 PAC-12) 31 @ Southern California Trojans (4-2, 1-2 PAC-12) 38:  USC got a victory for Ed Orgeron in his debut. Neither defense could stop the other with Arizona allowing 546 yards while Southern Cal surrendered 508. Cody Kessler had a good night throwing for 297 yards with two touchdowns, not to be outdone B.J. Denker of the UofA was 28-of-44 for 363 and four TD passes. Nelson Agholor was Kessler’s primary target catching seven passes for 161 yards with a score. Next Game for Arizona – October 19 v. Utah (4-2, 1-2 PAC-12), 7 pm/PAC-12 Network. Next Game for USC – October 19 v. @Notre Dame (4-2), 4:30 pm/NBC

Saturday, October 12 –

2 Oregon Ducks (6-0, 3-0 PAC-12) 45 @ 16 Washington Huskies (4-2, 1-2 PAC-12) 24: Another week another 600+ yard performance from the Ducks offense, 631 to be exact. Washington outscored Oregon 24-17 in the first and third quarter but were done in the second and fourth not scoring while allowing 28 points combined. Marcus Mariota was 24-of-31 for 366 yards with three scores passing, while picking up 88 yards with another score on the ground. Byron Marshall ran for 106 yards reaching the endzone twice. Bralon Addison had 157 yards two TD’s and Josh Huff 107, one score combining for 264 yards combining for three scores. Washington committed two turnovers, Bishop Sankey had 167 yards with two TD’s in the losing effort. Next Game for Oregon – October 19 v. Washington State (4-3, 2-2 PAC-12), 7 pm/FS1. 5 Stanford Cardinal (5-1, 3-1 PAC-12) 21 @ Utah Utes (4-2, 1-2 PAC-12) 27: Utah beat a top ten opponent for the first time in school history. The Utes stopped Stanford twice inside the five yard line to secure the upset. Utah nearly gave away their 13 point lead in the fourth before holding on for the historic win. Travis Wilson passed for 234 yards with two scores while Bubba Poole rushed for 111 yards on 22 carries. Next Game for Stanford – October 19 v. 9 UCLA (5-0, 2-0 PAC-12), 12:30 pm/ABC or ESPN2. Next Game for Utah – October 19 @Arizona (3-2, 0-2 PAC-12), 7 pm/PAC-12 Network

Colorado Buffaloes (2-3, 0-3 PAC-12) 13 @ Arizona State Sun Devils (4-2, 2-1 PAC-12) 54: The powerful ASU offense returned as the Sun Devils scored 25 straight first quarter points in this laugher. Arizona State led 47-6 at the break and let up only scoring seven points in the second half. Colorado had four turnovers which didn’t help the cause in defeat. The Sun Devils averaged 11.6 yards per pass with Taylor Kelly throwing for 233 yards and two TD’s. Next Game for Colorado – October 19 v. Charleston Southern (7-0, 1-0 Big South). Next Game for Arizona State – October 19 v. 20 Washington (4-2, 1-2 PAC-12), 3 pm/PAC-12 Network

California Golden Bears (1-5, 0-3 PAC-12) 10 @ 11 UCLA Bruins (5-0, 2-0 PAC-12) 37:. UCLA avoided a potential “trap” game against Cal at the Rose Bowl by taking care of business early. The Bruins got another great effort from Brett Hundley who was 31-of-41 for 410 yards with three passing TD’s and added 18 yards on the ground. Bruin receivers averaged 13.2 yards per catch, three receivers had a touchdown. Cal couldn’t stay on the field going 4-of-17 on third down in the game. Next Game for California – October 19 v. Oregon State (5-1, 3-0 PAC-12), 7:30 pm/ESPN2. Next Game for UCLA – October 19 @Stanford (5-1, 3-1 PAC-12), 12:30 pm/ABC or ESPN2

Oregon State Beavers (5-1, 3-0 PAC-12) 52 @ Washington State Cougars (4-3, 2-2 PAC-12) 24: For three quarters was back and forth but in the forth Oregon State scored 28 unanswered points. Sean Mannion who threw for 493 yards four TD’s, two of which were in the fourth. Brandin Cooks had 11 catches for 137 yards and two scores, Richard Mullaney had 122 yards on five receptions. Wazzu committed six turnovers in the game, which included four interceptions. Next Game for Oregon State – October 19 @California (1-5, 0-3 PAC-12), 7:30 pm/ESPN2.
