Post-‘Enlightened,’ Mike White Tapped by DreamWorks to Adapt ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ Author’s Latest Novel

With the recent news that Mike White’s “Enlightened” won’t be picked up for a third season by HBO, the writer-director-actor has signed with DreamWorks to adapt “Silver Linings Playbook” author Matthew Quick’s latest novel, “The Good Luck of Right Now.”

The story centers on four outsiders who form a makeshift family in the midst of grieving over the pain and loss in their lives. 

While White co-created, executive produced, starred, wrote and directed several episodes of “Enlightened,” his only big-screen helming gig thus far has been 2007’s “Year of the Dog,” from his own script. Among other things, he has penned Miguel Arteta’s “The Good Girl,” starring Jennifer Aniston, and Richard Linklater’s “School of Rock,” starring Jack Black.

David O. Russell’s adaptation of Quick’s “Silver Linings” won Jennifer Lawrence an Oscar for Best Actress, while the film received an additional seven nominations.
