CLEVELAND, Ohio -- If former Eagles coach Andy Reid takes the Kansas City job, he'll bring along former Browns general manager Tom Heckert as his GM, a league source told The Plain Dealer.

Reid, who's also expected to interview with the Cardinals, had a lengthy interview with the Chiefs on Wednesday and is still in Kansas City.

Reid would most likely also have a chance to hire some of his other former Eagles buddies in Kansas City, such as former Browns coach Pat Shurmur and offensive coordinator Brad Childress.

The Jets were also set to interview Heckert, but that interview might not take place if Heckert follows Reid to Kansas City.

On Monday, shortly after being fired by the Browns, Heckert told The Plain Dealer he'd love to work again with Reid, with whom he spent nine years in Philadelphia and enjoyed tremendous success. "He's a phenomenal coach,'' said Heckert. "It would be outstanding to work with him again.''

The big draw for Reid in Kansas City is that he'd be able to bring Heckert and others with him, a source said. Heckert is not expected to join Reid if he takes the Arizona job. Reid is believed to be the Cardinals' top choice, a source said. Reid is also set to interview with the Chargers this weekend, according to CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora.

If Heckert goes to Kansas City, current GM Scott Pioli, the former Browns personnel exec, would most likely be out.
