Weekly digest of W3C news and trends

This is the 7-14 December 2012 edition of a “weekly digest of W3C news and
trends" that the W3C Communications Team prepares for the W3C Membership
and public-w3c-digest mailing list (publicly archived [1]) [sent
separately]. This digest aggregates information about W3C from online
media, a snapshot of how W3C and its work is apprehended in online media.

Notably this week:

- 1500 stories about W3C on Twitter in 7 days.
- 3100 mentions of W3C in 7 days with a peak yesterday (680 mentions) that
matches the advancement of WOFF 1.0 to W3C Recommendation.
- net increase of 401 Twitter followers in 7 days, now 50934 followers.
- 20 posts that dlvr.it posted to StatusNet, Twitter and Facebook between
Dec 04 - Dec 11 got 29K clicks (+16%), delivered to 58.6K connections
(+0.7%).

Below is the compilation of what I harvested monitoring the
(micro)blogosphere and press. The social media part of this digest is made
of many pieces (including Spec publications, TAG election), while the
press part is populated only with 3 articles.
