Police Searching For Two Suspects After 75-Year-Old Is Slashed In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - At age 75, the victim was apparently no match for the two thugs who beat her up and slashed her.
It happened on Friday night at around 7:15 in the St.Mary's Park Houses -- a city public housing development -- on 645 Westchester Avenue in the Bronx, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria reported.

The police said that the two thugs followed the victim from the elevator on the 16th floor right to her apartment door, where she lived alone. As she opened the door, police said the robbers pushed her from behind. That's when they hit her several times and slashed her throat.
Neighbor Norka Montinez said that it's too bad that the cameras in the building don't work, because perhaps the attackers could have been caught right away.
"The cameras, they put them up a couple of months ago," Montinez told D'Auria. "They don't work, because we've had a lot of incidents. They were put there for that particular reason, to watch the traffic coming in and out. What's the point? It's just a waste of money. There is no proof that they're getting information off of these cameras."
Montinez added that it's a very dangerous building in a dangerous neighborhood, and that she's not at all surprised that her neighbor was attacked.
"They're always targeting the Hispanic elderly people who are always by themselves," Montinez said. "Every time we see (the suspect) she's always coming in and out with bags, so if somebody tried to rob her I would assume they thought she probably had money there. Month after month and week after week there is something happening."
She also said that illegal drugs are a big problem in the St.Mary's Park Houses.
The victim was hospitalized but is expected to survive.
The police were at the victim's apartment last night, but the thieves were long gone. They have not been found.
