Product description

P!nk joined forces with producer Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foster The People & The Shins) for the very first time, along with long time collaborators Max Martin, Shellback, Billy Mann and Butch Walker. She also worked with songwriter/producer Dan Wilson (Adele’s "Someone Like You" and Dixie Chicks). The album is P!nk’s unique take on the different shades of love--the dark, the light, the happy and the sad. Lead single "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" is produced by Kurstin.
This is her sixth album following
Can’t Take Me Home (2000), M!ssundaztood (2001), Try This (2003), I’m Not Dead (2006), Funhouse (2008), and a Greatest Hits… So Far!!! (2010).

In keeping with Pink's recent offerings this contains a good mixture of hard rocking songs intertwined with quieter melodic offerings. It's always a good sign when certain songs stand out from the first listen and that certainly applies with this CD: Blow Me (One Last Kiss) and Try to name just two. With apologies to those of you too young to understand this reference, How Come You're Not Here sounds to me like Free with a female singer - coming from a 50+ year old Rock fan, that is definitely a compliment.

There are three guest singers on this collection starting with Nate Ruess. I confess to never having heard of Nate before, but he has a pleasant voice so I will investigate further. The second is Lily Rose Cooper (better known by her single name Lily Allen). As a fan of Lily's two albums to date I listened out for her voice only to hear it for one verse quite late on in the song! Worth the wait, Lily. Finally there is Eminem providing a bit of rap on Here Comes The Weekend. Unfortunately I'm not much of a rap fan so this does not add much for me.

The second disc contains four songs which certainly bear comparison to those on disc one: no makeweights or outtakes here. Why those extra songs are on a separate disc is a mystery to me - the whole collection would have fitted on one disc. I assume it's so disc one could be identical to the non-deluxe version, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been difficult to release a deluxe edition with all the songs on one disc.

I look forward to seeing Pink perform songs from this collection on stage next year.

New material from our favorite foul-mouthed singer that doesn't hesitate to say everything as is, has arrived. She's fearless and her un-sugarcoated expressions get right to the point. The new album is a great and pleasant escape from the auto-tuned electronic noise that has polluted the music scene in the past 3 years (which noise I tend to enjoy but is unfortunately been overdone now). It includes from pop/rock jams to some powerful and stripped down ballads. Her style goes back to her rockier "Try this!" era and fusions some pop elements from her next eras and a pinch of acoustic ballads from "Funhouse". It all blends perfectly and the outcome is a fresh and unique album that you will play on repeat.

Her first single "Blow me (One last kiss)" is a powerful pop/rock break-up song that has played in repeat for hours on my computer and haven't get bored of it to date. It only foreshadows the greatness that is to come!
I was about to write a list of the best tracks, started naming most of the tracks and stopped because the whole album stands out, but I mostly favor the ballads. The only thing I can say is that the weakest track in the album is "The truth about love". Also, for those who hesitate to buy the deluxe edition, I have to say that "Run", which features uncredited vocals from the one and only Lily Rose Cooper (a.k.a. Lily Allen), is a very sweet ballad that's worth the extra money of the deluxe.

All in all, I believe it's, if not the best, in the top 3 of best albums in 2012 that's not gonna disappoint any P!nk fan or people that are tired of today's music. 5/5

P.S.: Try to say this review's title fast!

P!nk's 6th Album and absolutely sensational!! If you're not a fan of P!nk, Listen to this album. You will be when you've finished it! Fantastic vocals, Excellent lyrics with a mix of party tunes packed full of attitude and songs that make you think about the important things in life. I have always thoroughly loved the albums that this woman produces, mainly because I feel that I can relate a lot to what she sings and writes about. I can pin point a part of my life and go straight back there with every song I listen to. Very few artists are able to do that to me and I appreciate an artist who has the courage to sit down and write about their own personal experiences. I think it's very important to lay it all on the line and she deserves a huge amount of respect. Can't wait for the tour next year! Buy all her albums NOOOOOOOWWWW! haha.

Let's get this out of the way: I love Pink's music - full stop. Well, perhaps not so much her first CD but, as she continues to produce, the growing maturity of her voice is irresistable, and so with this latest CD. Her humour, irreverence, honesty and heartfelt words hit the spot time after time. I've only just this morning received The Truth About Love and am listening as I type this review - and it's a player, obviously, but there's one track that is a stand-out in my opinion. 'The Great Escape' is stunning with strong lyrics and Pink's vocals on this one have an extra maturity which give it further weight. Some people mind the swear words on Pink's tracks - I think they explain clearly and precisely what she's trying to get across. A brilliant CD which I highly recommend you buy!

Wasn't honest about review - I cannot get this disc to play. I assumed it was because my 2002 Avalon could not read it for some reason, but I've since tried playing it in my new car, and still nothing. Would like to return for replacement of same. UPDATE: Amazon sent me a replacement at no charge - and I LOVE this CD! Highly recommend!
