PHOTOS: X Factor USA Judges Premiere New Season As They Get Ready To Battle The Voice

Last night saw the return of the X Factor USA to TV screens across the US and to celebrate the premire, judges Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears and L.A. Reid attended a swanky event to watch the first episode.

Dressing to impress, Britney, whose appointment on the show made way for speculation that she wouldn't be able to cope, opted for a patterned blue dress, which she accessorised with a pair of nude heels. The 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' hitmaker also decided to let her blonde locks fall around her shoulders.

Whilst Brit went for an eye-catching colour, Demi went for the fail safe LBD with embellished detailing on the shoulders. The star, who has recently been teased by Simon about One Direction's Niall Horan, accessorised her outfit with a pair of black heels and a neat updo hairstyle.

As the girls looked super smart, the same couldn't be said for X Factor's head honcho who arrived in a white shirt and a pair of jeans. L.A. Reid on the other hand looked super smart in a suit and tie.

Despite showing his biggest grin at last night's event, we don't doubt that Simon was thinking about The Voice, which went head-to-head with the X Factor USA last night.

Revealing his annoyance at The Voice's decision to show an edition of their show on the same night, Simon said:

"I think this is the reason why NBC decided to put The Voice up against us. It is a spoiling tactic and it’s very simple—they don’t want people to see this first episode. I think it’s mean-spirited and I hope and I pray that it backfires on them because this is one of the best shows we’ve ever made.

"I am p***ed off about it because I think there is kind of a gentlemen’s agreement, but you have to rely that the viewers will make the right selection. I think three nights in a row is too much. I think there is a lot of interest, rightly so, in our show because of Britney, Demi, the way the show is going to look. We’re going to see what happens. But I’ve learned, don’t make any predictions."
