X Factor heart-throb Jake Quickenden is in mourning today after losing brother Oliver to cancer.

The star, who was seen sailing through his first audition on last week's episode of the talent show, was flooded with support from fans after announcing the tragic news.

He wrote: "My little brother was the best person I will ever meet. I will miss him everyday! Thank you for messages of support! Love lasts forever."

Messages of sympathy included: "@JakeQuickenden sorry to hear about Olly. Hope your family are doing as well as can be, do your family and Scunny proud with your music" and "so very sorry to hear the news. I’m sure he was already very proud of you even b4 xfactor. Stay strong and keep smiling x"

Tragically, Jake's father also passed away from cancer a few years ago, but the singer did not want to draw attention to his heartache on the show.

Sibling Oliver was diagnosed with a rare form of osteosarcoma two years ago, and had undergone a ten-week course of chemotherapy ahead of an operation on his right knee and femur. Despite more chemo, he passed away.

Our deepest sympathies are with Jake and his family.
