X Factor 2012: 'Fairy Flutterbye' Hopeful 'Amazes' Judges With Audition

Who would have thought that a fairy could impress Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and Anastacia on the X Factor? But she did as mum of two and part time Fairy Flutterbye, Melanie wowed the judges with her audition.

Explaining that she runs an under-fives music class where she transforms into Fairy Flutterbye in her VT, the hopeful arrived on stage ready to sing.

Having decided to sing, Janis Joplin's 'Cry Baby', the star received a standing ovation before the judges heaped praise on her.

Branding Melanie's audition as "amazing", Gary said: "Melanie that was insane, oh my god that voice, you were guiding us through the song. It was amazing, it really was", whilst Louis added:

"Melanie where did that voice come from and where has it been?  You’re 44, this is what this show is all about, finding somebody as amazing as you and giving them a chance."

Appearing as a guest judge, US star Anastacia told Melanie: "I completely can’t believe that you killed it like that. It is never too late to have a record deal girl!"

Tulisa added: "You came on stage and you seemed really gentle and then all of the sudden this fire and this soul and this diva came out of you. You owned that stage you absolutely rocked it - that is how you do an audition. Amazing."
