'I won't let X Factor turn me into a monster': Favourite Ella Henderson, 16, vows to stay grounded as she prepares for bootcamp

Contestants such as Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel hit the headlines during their time on The X Factor due to their reported feisty attitudes.

But one person who won't let The X Factor go to her head is teenager Ella Henderson, who wowed the judges with her audition on the Saturday night series premiere of the show.

Ella, 16, who sang a track she had written herself for the four judges, insisted she wouldn't be letting the ITV show turn her into a 'monster'.

Admitting she can sometimes be 'gobby and loud', Ella, who is now through to the show's bootcamp stage, said that she will do her utmost to remain grounded throughout the X Factor process.

Ella also admitted during an interview on This Morning today that she had opted to sing her own composition, which she wrote in memory of her late grandfather who died when she was just eight years old, because she wanted to hear the opinion of esteemed songwriter Gary Barlow - one of the judges on the panel.

She said: 'It was a tough choice to do my original song but I just thought, the rules have changed this year and for that reason I wanted to put it out there.

'And especially with Gary Barlow on the panel.

'I'm such a fan and I wanted to see what he thought of it.'

Ella added to This Morning presenter Stephen Mulhern that she is still trying to cope with the support she has received from fans following Saturday night's performance.

She said: 'I think the whole thing was overwhelming and the reaction I got was totally unexpected.

'I'm still trying to find a way to just accept it - all the compliments I've been given.'

Ella also revealed that it was when she finally got up on the stage that she calmed down, and realised she would just be getting 'honest feedback' from the judges - Gary, Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and guest judge Mel B.
