When Louis Walsh was confirmed to return to the X Factor this year, the music mogul might have had hopes to become the head judge for the latest series, however his hopes were dashed when Simon Cowell announced Gary Barlow as head judge instead.

However speaking to The Sun On Sunday, Walsh was happy to accept Barlow's appointment insisting he was just happy to be on the panel.

Walsh was quoted as saying: "Gary knows the most about music.

"I know about the business but Gary is a music legend. I'm not going to fight him to be boss."

Louis is keen to stay on the right side of the Take That frontman but has insisted he'll put up a fight when it comes to contestants expecting an easy ride, he said:

"A lot of them think they deserve it. What they don't appreciate is that the judges have clawed their way there.

"I'm not sure many of them realise how much hard work is involved."

Louis stands a good chance this year as it was revealed he would be in charge of the groups, which is somewhat of a specialty for the Irish manager!

The new series kicks of on August 18, with judges Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger.
